Suzanne Komenski named April Jaz Janie

4.22.25 / By Malorie Benjamin

Suzanne truly embodies the spirit of the Jaz Janie Award—stepping up with initiative, leading with empathy, and showing unwavering commitment to her team when it matters most.

As the media department experienced some shifts and transitions, Suzanne noticed a gap—and instead of waiting to be asked, she acted. When a new billing coordinator joined our team, the initial plan was for another team member to handle her training. But Suzanne didn’t just delegate or observe. She took ownership, becoming a steady source of guidance and mentorship from day one.

With patience and care, Suzanne helped our new colleague build confidence, navigate her new role, and grow into a valuable member of the team. Her actions weren’t just about completing a task—they were about uplifting others and investing in the long-term strength of the department.

This is exactly what the Jaz Janie Award honors: selflessness, leadership, and a proactive spirit. Suzanne showed all of that and more, giving us a standout start to what we know will be an inspiring year ahead.

Let’s give it up for Suzanne—a true example of what it means to lead with heart.

Every month, Dixon Schwabl + Company honors an outstanding employee with the coveted Jaz Janie Award, created to commemorate Public Relations Vice President Jane “Janie” Argenta, who passed away in September 2009. Jane was a fun-loving, compassionate and hardworking professional who touched the lives of many.

DS+CO makes a donation to support a charity of each Jaz Janie winner’s choosing. This month, Suzanne chose to support Gilda’s Club Rochester with her donation.
