Dixon Schwabl Named on Annual Great Place to Work Rankings: 2017 Best Small & Medium Workplaces

October 18, 2017

Building an agency that fosters productivity, innovation and a positive work environment has always been a priority at Dixon Schwabl. Workplace culture is the heart of the agency, and because of this, the full-service advertising, marketing and public relations firm has once again been honored on the annual Great Place to Work rankings.

Dixon Schwabl was named one of the 2017 Best Small & Medium Workplaces by Great Place to Work and FORTUNE, ranking No. 49 among the top 100 medium-sized organizations. With more than 100 employees, this is the second year Dixon Schwabl was ranked on the medium workplaces list.

This ranking considered 74,000 surveys from employees at hundreds of businesses in all sectors of the economy across the country. Dixon Schwabl earned a spot on the list based on its employees’ assessment of the camaraderie, leadership, fairness, rewards and career opportunities enjoyed by all in their workplace. This award marks the 13th consecutive year Dixon Schwabl has ranked among the Best Workplaces in America.

“Year after year, we are impressed with our amazing and talented employees, as they are the ones who make Dixon Schwabl a great place to work,” Dixon Schwabl CEO Lauren Dixon said. “We are as proud to be on the list today as when were recognized for the first time 13 years ago. To have been ranked for 13 consecutive years is quite an accomplishment. We also couldn’t be happier that our friends at ESL were also named to the list for the seventh time — it’s a great day to celebrate two nationally recognized Rochester businesses.”

While much freedom and responsibility are given to employees, the agency focuses on its six core values: respect, integrity, community, teamwork, innovation and fun — with a lot of emphasis put on fun! From each employee receiving their birthday off and ice cream socials every Thursday to agency chair massage days, clambakes, chili cook-offs and family trick-or-treating around the agency, Dixon Schwabl has created a culture the fosters a healthy work environment that, in turn, inspires employees to work hard and produce great work.

Outstanding small and mid-sized employers — as identified by their employees — are substantially more likely to report work experiences linked to retention, innovation and good customer service, according to research by Great Place to Work. The winning organizations also are more likely than their peers to maintain a healthy organizational culture as they grow larger and more complex.

“The Best Small & Medium workplaces are laying the groundwork for future success by building trust, cooperation and leadership credibility. All of these enhance business performance and create a positive environment for doing business,” said Michael Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work.

This past July, Dixon Schwabl was also ranked No. 7 by the consulting firm Great Place to Work and FORTUNE magazine on their list of Best Workplaces in New York. Additionally, the public relations team was recognized by PR News as one of the Top Places to Work in PR in August.
