Mike Schwabl

Why did you choose a career in advertising?
I owe it all to great TV sitcoms like the Dick Van Dyke Show and Bewitched. Seeing adults getting paid for being creative and having fun was all I needed to get hooked!

What are some activities you enjoy participating in outside of work?
Still in pursuit of that perfect 300 game in bowling…and I’ve recently ratcheted up my frustration level by taking up the fine game of golf.

What is your life motto?
Tell the truth and shame the devil! It’s amazing how simple life can be when you base it on the truth.

What are you most proud of?
Like most dads, my four kids and the great family we continue to grow. I'm also pretty proud of our extended family at the agency and how they always find a way to "make it happen!"

Why did you choose a career in advertising?
I did not intentionally choose the field of advertising. I started my career in banking, but quickly learned it was too slow of a pace for my personality. Then I took a position in marketing 25 years ago, and the rest is history.

What are some activities you enjoy participating in outside of work?
Spinning and Pilates classes.

My mom. She went to college, worked full time and raised 2 strong women, all simultaneously. She is the strongest woman I know.

Teaching…or join the Olympics on the curling team.

Anyone picking up the check. No actually, there’s this dude who used to do a lot of public speaking, a motivational speaker, had 12 other dudes in his employ…

What is your favorite movie?
Any movie that is less than 90 minutes—I have a rather short attention span. And it has to be a comedy, too—no action, gore or dramas!

Those with courage in what they believe despite insurmountable negative pressure.

Why did you choose a career in advertising?
I grew up as a competitive dancer and, therefore, the entertainment industry appealed to me. When researching potential non-performing careers in that industry, I discovered the role of publicist.

If not advertising, what would you do?
I would be a career waitress! I love people, food and socializing!

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
The power to stop time from moving forward.

What is your life motto?
If you can state, at the end of any given situation, that you truly gave it your all, then you should be comfortable with whatever the outcome is.

Because Lauren and Mike invited me to join a well-respected organization making a very positive impact in the Greater Rochester community.

Caddyshack…an absolutely timeless classic!

When you were young, what was a dream or aspiration you had for when you grew up?
Nothing too far fetched or crazy…I just wanted to be good at whatever I pursued in life.

If you could pursue another career different than the one you currently have, what would that career be?
I think I’d be a PGA TOUR Professional…because I’d be a lot better at the game than I currently am, and I’d get to play a different golf course every week!
