Benches on Parade Social Media

Benches on Parade—a nonprofit, summer-long community arts project—brought together area businesses, organizations and artists to turn fiberglass benches into exciting works of art. As part of our ongoing public relations effort, we were challenged to maintain the project’s momentum by engaging the community and increasing awareness during the “quiet period” between the initial bench sales in the fall and the event unveiling the following spring. To meet this challenge, we developed a digital media campaign that included a blog, YouTube videos and a Facebook presence. As a result, during this “quiet period” the blog had 5,000+ unique page views and the project welcomed nearly 500 Facebook friends. When the project relaunched in the spring, the blog, website traffic and Facebook friends all increased by nearly 40%.
